Roger F. Cronce joined his relatives and friends in heaven on Thursday, March 2, 2023. Roger will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
Roger was born to Mildred and Edward Cronce on March 13, 1935 in Crandon, Wisconsin. He attended school in Crandon and graduated from Crandon High School in 1953, then joined the United States Army initially based in Colorado, then Germany and England. He married Sharon Sundberg and moved to Milwaukee where they raised their 3 children.
In Milwaukee, Roger had a successful 34-year career as a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, starting as an apprentice, journeyman, then through hard work became the Job Foreman working on many larger commercial HVAC building projects around the Milwaukee area. Roger was well-respected in his field.
After the death of his first wife of 29 years and mother of his children, Sharon Sundberg, Roger retired to Crandon and eventually married Edith "Goldie" Dorau. They were married for 30 years and enjoyed wintering in Florida, travel, working on geneology, and spending many fun times with their family and friends. He remained married to Goldie until her death and enjoyed a loving and caring relationship.
Roger enjoyed spending time outside, including hunting, fishing, and gardening. He always had a project he was working on: building a deck, a fireproof sheet metal storage box for their geneology research, and a large cedar closet in the basement for Goldie's seasonal clothing, and other projects too numerous to mention.
Roger was a wonderful, loving, caring husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He will be very much missed by his children and all who knew him.
Survivors include his children Dan Cronce, Steve (Allison) Cronce, & Melisa (Dan) Jungen; step-son Fred Dorau; grandchildren Sarah Cronce, Catherine (Peter) Herbert, Jane (Steve) Knoblock, Joseph Jungen, Jenna Jungen; great-grandchildren Daniel Narvaez, Malina Cronce, Juliana Cronce; great-great-grandson Kyrie Narvaez.
Also survived by brother Barry (Sue) Cronce, sisters Ardyce Duff, Jenny Bradley, & Kathy Palmer; brother-in-law from first marriage Bill Sundberg; many cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife Edith "Goldie" Mae Cronce (Radliff), previous wife Dorothy Sharon Cronce (Sundberg); daughter-in-law Colette Cronce, step-son Gene Dorau, brothers Edward Cronce, Jerry Cronce, sister Dolores Tyrell.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Crandon with Pastor Francois Mukosa officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Church service will follow at 11 a.m.
