Ronald "Ronnie" Ferrell Baxter, age 62 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. Ronnie was born on March 8, 1962 to the late Stanley and Madeline Searcy Baxter. He graduated from Manual High School in 1980 where he played football (center) and was listed as Most Valuable Player. His best friends in high school were Rick Becker and Terry Burger. Ronnie, Rick and Terry were referred to as "the Three Bs" for their last names and were the school's football stars. Ronnie was an avid UofK fan and a huge San Francisco 49ers fan. Ronnie enjoyed watching all sports, especially UofK basketball, 49ers football and watching wrestling.
Ronnie was a steel fabricator by trade. He worked for Shelby Steel, Oneal Steel, Neil Lavielle Steel and Kentuckiana Balancing Company, where he started a new division of steel fabricating. He also worked for Wolke Paint Manufacturing. He attended University of Louisville for two years. He enjoyed power lifting, wrestling, fishing, playing pool, spending time with his wife and only son, his two beautiful grandchildren, Rick and Terry and his brothers who were his very best friends; and many family and friends. Ronnie was the life of the party and had the gift of gab and charm, and made friends everywhere he went.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Baxter; and one of his best friends, Terry Burger.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years together, Kelly Baxter; his son, Nickolas Baxter; granddaughter, Jolene Funk; his grandson, Benjamin Baxter; sister, Diana Stoler; brothers, Gary Baxter (Lisa) and Wayne Baxter (Tina); nieces, Debbie Beeler and Madison Baxter; aunt, Joyce Shuttleworth; cousins, Glen, Ed and Wendell Kessing; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Fox; his sister-in-laws, Kim Kayrouz and Kim Hobbs; nephew, Dillon Kayrouz; his father-in-law, Steve Stengel (Glenda); brother-in-law, Rodney Atwell (Jennifer); niece, Phoebe; his friends he considered family, David Reeves, Nena Horn, Rick (Kathy) Becker and John Becker; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 2 to 6pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Ronnie's life will follow at 6pm.
