Ronald "Ronnie" Fischer, age 84, passed away with his family by his side in his room at The Maples in Springfield, Missouri on September 22, 2022. Ronnie loved the summer sun, so it is quite appropriate he chose to pass with the season on the first day of fall.
Ronnie was born in Appleton City, Missouri to G.O. and Laura (Jagels) Fischer on July 15, 1938. He was the oldest of seven children and graduated from Appleton City High School in 1956. He began dating Marilee Pope, of Rich Hill, while in high school and they both moved to Kansas City after graduating.
They were married on May 21, 1960 and moved into a little pink house in the Ruskin area, where they started there lives together. While in this home, they had two children, Ronda and Bret.
Ronnie started working in the mail room for GMAC in 1957 and received a certificate from Draughon's Business College, which helped propel him into the accounting department. He received a promotion and was transferred, moving the family to Mt. Vernon, Illinois in 1968. He was always a hard worker and loyal to his company. In 1978, he received another promotion and transferred to Springfield, Missouri as Accounting Manager. At age 54, he chose to take early retirement in 1992 rather than move to Detroit. With 35 years of service at retirement, Ronnie had no sick days taken.
Ronnie loved spending time outdoors in the pool with his grandkids, fishing, boating, and hunting. You would find him in the Rockville area every deer season with his family, who all enjoyed the sport. He loved his time at the Lake of the Ozarks and in recent years you would find him spending most of his days out in the courtyard at the Maples.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Marilee; his children Ronda (Wes) and Bret (Jeff); his grandchildren, Lesley (Eric), Kevin (Katie), Drew (Chris), Grant (Katie), and Chad; and his great-grandchildren, Henry, Brian, Miles, Alex, and Hazel; his brothers and sisters, Terry (Charlie), Gary (Linda), Diane (Jake), Susan (Bill), Dwight (Shelia) and Alan (Kathy); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He had a great love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and it is certain you can find him fishing on a golden pond with Jesus where the fish are biting.
A visitation for Ronnie will be at 1 p.m., Tues., Oct. 4 with services beginning at 2 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2852 S. Dayton, Avenue, Springfield, MO.
Memorial donations may be made in Ronnie's name to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson's Foundation.
