Rozella Foist

Rozella Manis Foist, a long-time resident of Pendleton, Indiana passed away
peacefully on September 8, 2023, in her home of 78 years surrounded by her
immediate family. Rozella was born on May 17, 1917, to Mae Irene (Good) and
Virgil Willard Manis in Middletown, Indiana. She was the first-born of five
children and outlived her younger siblings. She lived an active and caring life for
106 years.
Rozella graduated from Anderson High School in 1935 and married her husband,
Russell Foist, in 1938. They were married for 72 years until Russell's death in
2010. She was a resident of Anderson, Indiana until her move to Hancock
County in 1955. Rozella was a long-time member of the Eden United Methodist
Church and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Chapter 101, Eden, Indiana.
She was the oldest active member of the Green Township Zeta Club, which is
now made up of the daughters and granddaughters of the founding members of
the social and literary club.
Mrs. Foist is survived by her twin daughters Sandra Foist (Gene Platus) of
Philadelphia, PA, and Tamara Pringle (Robert) of Pendleton. She has three
grandchildren: Aaron Foist (Rebecca) of Stroudsburg, PA., Caleb Foist of Gilbert,
AZ, and Meredith Pringle (Ted Wegner) of Washington, DC, and four great-
grandchildren: Kayce, Henry and Ava Foist of Stroudsburg, PA and Carter Foist of
Gilbert, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, and son, Timothy, her
parents, Mae and Virgil Manis, and siblings Ethel King, Hazel Ridge, Betty Manis,
and Ivan Manis.
The family would like to express our appreciation to Suburban Hospice for their
care and support.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am – 12:00 noon on Friday, September 15, 2023 at
Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 S. 5 th St, Middletown, IN. A graveside
service and burial will follow for family and friends at Miller Cemetery in
Middletown.
