Sally Hoover Nunn passed peacefully to her heavenly home on April 19, 2024. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, as well as a beacon of her faith and a lady with many skills, interests, and talents. Born on October 7, 1951, Sally lived a remarkable life. She spent her younger years in Swansea, SC, graduating from the local high school, then Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC, where she met the love of her life and husband of 49+ years, Randy Nunn.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Greene Funeral Home on Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 1:00 PM at Ebenezer ARP Church, Rock Hill, SC.
Sally is survived by her husband Randy, daughter Nicole (Dan) Ballard, son Jacob (Susan) Nunn. She was the proud Mimi of five grandchildren, Samuel, Joshua, and Madeline Nunn, and Peter and Chloe Ballard and loving sister to Sondra Hoover Halweg (Richard) and Barbara Hoover Lupo, and doting aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents, Melva Craft and Ely Fulton Hoover, preceded her in death.
Sally was always active in her church wherever she lived, Swansea, West Columbia, Orangeburg, and Rock Hill. Longtime member of Ebenezer ARP, Sally served in many capacities over the years including Ladies Circle member and teacher, McFall Care Group, Sunday School Teacher, and participated in various activities where she could share her love of the Lord.
As a celebrated teacher and administrator with her Masters Degree in Education from the University of South Carolina, she dedicated well over 30 years to public education throughout South Carolina, and retired from teaching in 2014 from Northwestern High School in Rock Hill.
Sally's love of pets had no end. As a passionate animal lover, she considered them as special members of her family. Sally's pets lived "the good life."
Her sphere of activity and influence was not limited to her church. She gave generously of her time and talents to civic activities: leader of Brownie and Girl Scouts, honored outstanding member of the Rock Hill Junior Women's Club, and participant in many other organizations.
All visits from her grandchildren were Sally's ultimate joys, especially when they came to swim in Mimi's pool. "She was my friend," says 8-year-old Samuel. "The world will never be the same," laments 5-year-old Peter. "She taught me about all of the things in her house," exclaims 5-year-old Joshua. Beach trips and playtimes with Mimi were memorable times.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer ARP Church's Circle 6 Missionary Fund. Condolences may be made to the family at greenefuneralhome.net.
