Sami Imad Fawaz, known affectionately as Sam to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in
Lansing, Michigan. Born on February 5, 1962, in the vibrant country of Lebanon, Sami's journey brought him to the United States, where he would build a life marked by dedication, joy, and the love of his family.
Sami's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 40 years, Fadia (Moussa) Fawaz, his devoted sons Jacob and Andrew, his caring sister Lillian (Faheem) Ashkar, and his steadfast brothers Hannibal (Viviana) Fawaz and Dani (Claude) Fawaz. He was a family man at heart, his life enriched by the deep bonds he shared with each of them. His father, Imad, who passed away in 2008, his mother, Josephine, who left us in 2022, and his sister Diana (Marty) Kimiatek, were all cherished figures in his life who preceded him in death.
For nearly four decades, Sami was the co-owner of Jackpot Party Store in Lansing, a testament to his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and the community he served became a part of his extended family. He was a man who not only knew the value of perseverance but also the importance of a warm smile and a friendly chat.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Sami found solace in the embrace of nature. His love for his "Village," Deir-Mimmas, never waned, and he carried the beauty of Lebanon in his heart wherever he went. He was a man who knew the importance of roots and wings – cherishing where he came from while giving his family the strength to soar.
Sami was the epitome of a friendly, intelligent, and loving individual. His approach to life was marked by an easy-going nature that drew people to him. His intelligence was not just in matters of business but also in the intricate tapestry of relationships he wove with care and affection. Love was the currency he valued above all, and he was rich beyond measure in this regard.
As we remember Sami, we reflect on a life lived fully and with purpose. His story is one of migration, hard work, and the pursuit of the American dream, which he achieved through sheer determination and the support of his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Sami Imad Fawaz will be dearly missed, but the memories he created will be treasured forever. His was a life that touched many, and his spirit will continue to live on through the lives of his family and the community he loved so dearly. As we say goodbye to Sami, we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the indelible mark he has left on this world.
