Samuel John Brummett

Samuel "Sam" John Brummett, 82, of Lafayette, passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
Born and raised in Brazil, IN, on June 25, 1942, the son of Mark and Jean (Suttie) Brummett. He was a 1960 graduate of Brazil High School and attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL and New Haven College in New Haven, CT earning his associate degree in Electrical Engineering. He continued his education at Purdue University and Indiana Wesleyan College. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving honorably from July 7, 1960 until his discharge on July 6, 1964. On August 11, 1962, he married the love of his life, Sandra Lessard at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Manchester, NH. Sandra preceded him in death on November 19, 2023.
Sam was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He worked as an Electronic Data Systems Technician for Eli Lilly until his retirement in 1999. In 1993, he founded "Midwest Contingency Planners, Inc. (MCP) of Indianapolis, where he served as President.
Sam enjoyed fishing, reading, woodworking, and star gazing. He also enjoyed HAM Radio and was involved with the Amateur Radio Emergency Service for which he received numerous "Certificate of Achievements" from the Emergency Management Institute. In his younger years, Sam enjoyed go-cart racing and spelunking.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Sherri (Sarah) Snyder of Indianapolis, Tracy Brummett and Darcy Brummett, both of Lafayette; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Brummett, Nathaniel Terry, and Michael Brummett; and great-granddaughter, McKayla Pierle.
Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra R. Brummett and his parents, Mark G. and Jean (Suttie) Brummett.
Memorial contributions in Sam's name may be given to Lafayette Catholic School System, 2410 S 9th St., Lafayette, IN 47909. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, January 3, 2024, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 4, 2024, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 318 N. 9th Street, Lafayette, IN 47904 with Father Jeff Martin officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, 2581 Schuyler Avenue, Lafayette, IN 47905.
