It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Ryan Moore, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, of
Fremont, MI. Scott left us peacefully at home on June 21, 2025, following a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was 67 years old.
Born on November 1, 1957, in
Fremont, MI, Scott was the son of Albert John Moore and Shirley Barends. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1976, and his life was a testament to the love he had for his family, his work, and his community. He was a lifelong resident of Fremont, deeply rooted in the place he called home.
His first jobs were held at local businesses; Haveman Hardware and Norwood Looms. His true passion came from his career as a Master Plumber and dedicated his life to his craft. As co-owner of Moore Plumbing and Heating, and later Moore & Paulsen Plumbing and Heating, he spent over 45 years serving his community, ensuring homes and businesses were safe and well-maintained. In 2021, Scott retired from his business, Moore Plumbing, but his legacy lives on in the countless homes and lives he touched through his work. He took great pride in his role, often saying he was "protecting the health of the nation." But more than a skilled tradesman, Scott was a friend to many, known for his sense of humor, and genuine care for the people he serviced.
Scott's true joy in life came from being with his family. He adored his wife, Luci, and cherished the time they spent together, often creating unforgettable memories with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was family vacations, building go-cart trails through the woods, teaching his children and grandchildren to fish on Peck Lake, or crafting beautiful wooden creations, Scott's love for his family was evident in every detail of his life.
He also had a passion for adventure and the great outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, and traveling, but perhaps one of his greatest joys was his annual firework shows, where he gathered friends and family to celebrate and make memories under the stars.
Scott's faith was an important part of his life, and he was a member of Christ the King and All Saints Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert John (AJ) Moore; his mother, Shirley Barends; his stepfather, Bill Barends; his father-in-law, Gordon Balcom Sr.; his brother-in-law, Douglas Earl; and his special friend, Connie Momany.
Scott leaves behind his loving wife, Luci Moore; his children, Jenna (John) Adams and Maxwell Moore; and his cherished grandchildren, Owen Scott Adams and Gwendolyn Grace Adams, all of whom were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Rick Moore (Deb); his step-brother, Tom (Michele) Barends; his step-sister, Lisa (Kyle) Clark; his beloved mother-in-law, Lucille Balcom; and his sisters-in-law, Sandra Earl and Debra (Rich) Wilbur; as well as his brothers-in-law, Gordon (Jane) Balcom and Gary Balcom. Scott's legacy extends to many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and countless cherished customers.
He will be especially remembered by his lifelong friends, Jon (Julie) Sovinski and Jay (Shelley) Oosterhouse, who stood by him with unwavering support throughout his journey.
Scott's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared. His unique sense of humor, and his deep love for his family, friends and community will forever be remembered.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, at Crandell Funeral Home in
Fremont, MI. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 30th at 11:00 am at Christ the King, Hesperia MI, with Rev. Peter Schafer as celebrant. There will also be a time of visiting with the family at church one hour prior to the funeral, with a luncheon to follow in the Christ the King Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Scott's memory to Corewell Health Hospice, who provided unwavering comfort, support, and compassion during his final days. Your generosity will help continue the important work of Hospice, supporting families in need.
