Beloved wife and mother Shirley Delores Barnes, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Dove House in Westminster, MD after a brief illness.
Born in Hanover, PA on April 12, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Leppo of Westminster, MD.
Shirley graduated from Westminster High School in 1964. She was employed at Carroll County Bank and Trust Company as a Loan Processor for 18 years. She also worked at the Carroll County Public Schools in clerical and cafeteria positions. She even spent some time at the Carroll County Health Department as an administrative assistant in their dental clinic.
Shirley was a devoted member of the Edgewood Church of the Brethren in New Windsor, MD where she was active in many different roles, including being a Deacon. She loved the Lord and was active in Bible studies.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas Barnes. She is also survived by her son Scott Barnes of Westminster, MD and her daughter and son in law Tammy and Kevin Jenkins of Salisbury, MD and a grandson Carson Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Norman and Robert Leppo.
The family will welcome friends and relatives for a viewing on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Leatherman and assistant Billy Horton officiating. A private internment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BridgingLife (Dove House) Development Office 200 Memorial Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
