Shirley A. Cartner, 93, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at County Club Retirement Center. She was surely overjoyed to be reunited with her beloved husband, William, who preceded her in death in 2010.

She was born on October 22, 1931 in Ashtabula, the daughter of William and Merl Alice (Yale) Wright and had been a lifelong area resident.

A lifelong member of First Grace Gospel Church, she was one of the founding members of the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. She served as a director of Vacation Bible School for over 40 years, and she enjoyed crafting, gardening, baking wedding cakes and was a steadfast NASCAR fan.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lynn (Larry) Pollock; grandchildren, Larry Pollock, Michael Pollock, and Emily Dalesandro; great-grandchildren, Oliver Cartner, John Dalesandro, Charlie Cartner, and Agatha Cartner.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Jr. Cartner, whom she married on June 6, 1948; her sons, William J. Cartner, Jr. and Gary Lee Cartner; grandchildren, Jeremy Cartner and Sarah Cartner; her parents; sisters, Lola Rooney, Irene Luke, and Olive Hare; and her brothers, Yale Omar Wright, Gordon Wright, Wilbur Wright, and Calvin Wright.
