Shirley Edith Kopf

For over 100 years, Shirley Spahn Kopf served her God and her community until she went to heaven on February 12, 2025. Shirley was born on October 25,1924, in New Orleans, Louisiana where she and her brother, Buddy, lived with their parents and grandmother.
She was married to late, John Kopf for 60 years and had 6 children, late, John, Jr.; Paula Toal (Richie); Margaret Neupert (late, Billy); Catherine Chesney (late, Ed); Joanna Alcina (Jimmy), and David (late, Peggy).
Shirley was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Shirley dedicated most of her life to the Catholic Church, specifically St Edward the Confessor Catholic Church where she was a founding parishioner and received both an Eddie award and a St. Louis medal for her many contributions. She led the parish choir for many years and was a member of the Hilltoppers as well as the Altar Society. Shirley also made countless altar cloths and many vestments for several priests. She was an extraordinary minister of communion, a lay Oblate of St. Benedict, directed many Ignatian retreats and was a powerful prayer warrior. Many people, including priests, sought her for guidance and intercession.
Shirleys many family members and friends are grateful for all the ways she has significantly and beautifully affected their lives and are happy that she is finally with her family and her Savior in heaven.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday, February 17, 2025, at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, 4921 W Metairie Ave, Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will begin for 10:00 AM, with a Mass starting at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately after mass in Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124.
