Sonia Marie Fall

On May 19, 2023, Sonia Marie Fall went to her heavenly home at the age of 62 surrounded by her family. She was kind-hearted and beyond generous with her love for others. She loved the Lord and her family beyond measure. She held a special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Sonia showed her true strength as she dealt with declining health. Her passing has left a hole for those who love her but comfort that she enters heaven with a healthy glorified body.
Sonia was born on January 18, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Dorothy Harrison. Sonia was a devoted wife to David Fall. Sonia was a loving mother to Jennifer Denham and husband Randy, Davey Fall and wife Courtney and a proud grandmother to Rowan Denham, Willow Fall and Harrison Fall. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Harrison, and her siblings, Diane Shipley (Kevin), Annette Ferolito (Nick), and Kenny Harrison (Kathy). She had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her stillborn twin sons, James Ronald and John Berry Fall and her father John Berry Harrison.
Sonia and her family lived in Montrose, Missouri early on and she attended St. Mary's Catholic School before moving to Green Ridge, Missouri. She then attended Green Ridge Elementary before graduating from Green Ridge High School. Sonia also attended State Fair Community College and Central Missouri State University.
On September 4th, 1981 she married the love of her life, David. They spent the next 42 years creating wonderful memories and were devoted to each other. They resided in Sedalia, Missouri for many years as they raised their family. They recently moved to Pike Road, Alabama to live near their children and grandchildren and continue to create precious memories together. Being "Gaga" to Rowan, Willow and Harrison filled her heart with joy and she always made sure they felt her love and had access to her snack cabinet.
Sonia grew up being very involved in her church and continued with that through her life, being a part of various committees over the years. She was a faithful follower of the Lord and found great joy in attending mass at Sacred Heart in Sedalia, Missouri and Holy Spirit in Montgomery, Alabama. She was very active and involved in sports from early on in her life. Something that was a huge part of her family through the years. She spent many years coaching and following her kids all over the midwest to support and encourage them in their sports. She was a lifelong Chiefs fan and football Sunday is a big deal in her house. One of her quotes when her children were growing up was "screw the savings account lets travel and make memories with the kids." A spur of the moment trip to to the beach remained a constant throughout her life.
Sonia worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years and retired as the Postmaster in Warsaw, Missouri. She was a dedicated employee and loved her job. Her management style focused on putting trust in her employees allowing them to flourish in their role.
Sonia genuinely cared for everyone she knew and loved. She always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. She lived a very full life and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was always up for an adventure. She loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises. She truly loved spending time at the beach and it brought her so much happiness. She loved playing and coaching volleyball. The pinnacle of her coaching career was leading her team to a 7th place finish at nationals in Austin, Texas. She shared her love of Mickey Mouse with her family. One of her many passions was crocheting blankets for loved ones. The precious blankets made by her loving hands can be found in homes across the country.
On Friday May 26, at 6pm a Rosary will be held and will be followed by a Celebration of Life, at Sacred Heart School in the Commons and Main Gym in Sedalia, Missouri. All are welcome including children and grandkids. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday May 27th, at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church in Sedalia, Missouri.
The family recommends that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Sacred Heart School Foundation or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, Missouri.
The family would like to say special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Jackson Hospital for their care and compassion.
We will always remember her for her kind-hearted and generous spirit, her unwavering faith in God and her love for her family. May she continue to inspire us all to live our lives with humility, gratitude and respect for others.
