Sophia Miller Obituary
Sophia Pearl Miller, known to everyone as Sophie, left us peacefully at the age of 96 on November 8, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. Born on December 30, 1928, in Middletown, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of Sherman and Ethel (Sorrell) McCarty.
Sophia dedicated an incredible 34 years to Delco-Remy, a division of General Motors, before enjoying some part-time work at Meijer after she retired. She attended Fall Creek Christian Church and Southern Heights Christian Church. She embraced her community through her involvement in the A.B.W.A. Wapahani Chapter, Victoria Guild, where she volunteered for St. John's Hospital and the Local 662 Union.
Family meant the world to Sophia, and she cherished each moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Teresa Hood and Beth (David) Halsell; Five grandchildren, Dayna (Doug) Stant, Chelsea (Austin) Lee, Adam (Polly) Wallace, Kyle Wallace, and Megan (Zachary) Curran; Five great-grandchildren, Mason Stant, Garrett Stant, Rhett Lee, Tyden Lee, and Maven Lee.
Sophia is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and five sisters.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday following visitation at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Hendrickson officiating.
