Spencer Roland Walker, 58, of West Hartford, beloved husband and best friend of Edina Brownlow, passed peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Spencer was born in Hartford, son of the late Roland and Lois (Spiece) Malboeuf, and attended Windsor High School. Over the years, Spencer was employed as a groundskeeper, landscaper, and general contractor, and spent the majority of his career traveling the country as a truck driver. Spencer loved to travel long distances, not only with work, but in his personal time, admiring the beauty of the landscape of America.
Spencer was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an intelligent man of few words, but once you got to know him, he would open up, and you could see what a wonderful and thoughtful person he was. Spencer was a sensitive and quiet gentle giant who enjoyed the simple things in life and loved his family more than anything. To Edina, he was her big teddy bear, and his world revolved around her. Spencer was generous with his time and talents and was the first one to lend a hand when help was needed. He spent his time taking care of others and relied on himself to solve his own problems. Spencer faced life's challenges with strength and faith and took responsibility for his own choices. He was a spiritual man who stayed strong in his faith and read his Bible for inspiration every night before he went to bed. Spencer will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor, larger than life presence, his warm smile, and a laugh that made you want to laugh along with him.
In his younger years, Spencer loved to ride his bike and took several long trips across several states, feeling the wind in his face and the satisfaction of meeting a challenge head on. He loved to fix things and spent a lot of time working on his bike, taking things apart to figure out how they worked, and getting them back together again. Spencer was never afraid to take on a challenge with many of life's challenges, loved to ride his BMX bike, and always impressed his brothers with his ability to ride backwards and practice his trick moves. He also loved nature and spending time in Elizabeth Park walking around and admiring the rose gardens.
In addition to his wife and soulmate, Edina, Spencer leaves to cherish his memory, his children with his former wife, Heather Noel Walker, Casey J. Walker and Mary R. Walker; his siblings, Michelle Gawlick and her husband John, David R. Malboeuf and his wife Jane, and Christine A. Han and her husband William; nieces and nephews, Danielle Gawlik, Megan Griffin, Sonja Griffin, Andrew Han, Emily Han, and Jennifer Han; as well as other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Brian Malboeuf.
A service will be held on a future date.
