Stanley Marion Kumor

Stan Kumor, 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Carolina Village Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Stan was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Stanley Kumor and Sophie Olejarz Kumor. He attended Cathedral Latin High School. He received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at the University of Dayton and his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
After his military service he began his career with DuPont, starting in Camden, South Carolina and retiring from the DuPont plant in Brevard. Through the years he was active as a coach for several of his children's sport teams, both basketball and soccer. He was also active at his church, Immaculate Conception on the parish finance committee and at Immaculata School on the school board of education. He also spent many years as a West Henderson High School Athletic Booster, announcing soccer games and working at other booster activities. In addition, he found time to serve his community on the Henderson County Parks and Recreation Board and on the Henderson County Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
Once he retired Stan enjoyed traveling with the Friendship Force and as an independent traveler with his wife. He also took pleasure in reviving his stamp collection and participating as an active member in the Asheville Stamp Club.
Stan and his wife Renee were married for fifty-six years. They have four children, four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
