Steve L. LaMaster, 65, of Scottsburg, IN, passed away on March 14, 2025, at U of L Health in Louisville, KY. He was born on April 22, 1959, in Madison, IN, at Kings Daughters Hospital to Lewis and Ruby (Braden) LaMaster, who both preceded him in death.
On June 20, 1997, Steve married the love of his life, Janie (Hignite) LaMaster, at Tampico Christian Church, and she survives in Scottsburg, IN.
Steve was a hardworking and dedicated man, spending much of his career as a mechanic on jets for Lockheed Martin. He also served his community in various roles, working at the Scott County Jail, volunteering as a firefighter in Vienna, and serving as a reserve officer in Washington County.
A proud graduate of Scottsburg High School, Class of 1977, Steve was a member of the Masonic Lodge #47 in Brownstown, IN, and a member of Tampico Christian Church. He had a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy in fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles. His passion for Allis Chalmers tractors, especially his beloved WD45, was well known. Above all, Steve was a kind, fun-loving, and compassionate man who was a true friend to many.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Janie LaMaster; two children, Natosha (Andrew) Kidd of Tampico, IN, and Steven Brock Lewis LaMaster of Scottsburg, IN; two cherished grandchildren, Trey Spaulding and Taitum Kidd; and three siblings, Sharon LaMaster of Scottsburg, IN, Gary (Audrey) LaMaster of Blocher, IN, and Beverly (Rick) Romero of Blocher, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Ruby LaMaster.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Rick Romero on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes and Crematory in Scottsburg, with burial to follow at Emmanuel Baptist Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the time of service on the same day.
Memorial donations in Steve's memory may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church or Tampico Christian Church, c/o Adams Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 138 Westavia Boulevard, Scottsburg, IN 47170.
Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
