Steve Battle Mashburn 86, of Topton was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 24, 2025. He was a native and life long resident of Cherokee County, North Carolina and a graduate of Nantahala High School. Steve worked for Nantahala Power until retiring at age 59. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball but will be remembered most for his refereeing of many sports throughout his life. Steve had many friends and constantly ran into friends, even while traveling throughout the country. Steve will be remembered by his family as a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a fair man and lived his life to a high moral standard. Steve quietly helped others in need within the community. He was a devoted member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #529 and was of the Baptist faith.
He was the son of the late Jess A. and Helen Crisp Mashburn and the husband of the late Alomia R. Mashburn, who passed away February 5, 2023. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Mashburn, and two brothers, Rob and Raymond Mashburn.
Surviving are his daughter, Lavetta Roper and husband, Scott of Robbinsville; one son, Mike Mashburn and wife, Kelley of Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister, Sandra Gilliam of Hilton Head, South Carolina; one brother, Lynn Mashburn and wife, Pam of Andrews; eight grandchildren, Kayla Spencer and husband, Jeremy, Lindsey Burke and husband, Lance, Jerri Anna Roper, Hunter Mashburn and wife, Elizabeth, Morgan Mashburn, Evan Mashburn, Dakoda Silvers, and Brady Jenkins; six great-grandchildren, Kynadee, Kambell and Jess Spencer, Loxley and Lennox Burke, and John Luke Mashburn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held at 4:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2025 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Reverend Scott Roper and Reverend Lance Burke officiating. Interment was at Valleytown Cemetery.
The family received friends from 2:00 PM- 3:50 PM Sunday, December 28, 2025 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Steve Battle Mashburn to Local High School Booster Club because of his love for kids and athletics.
