Steven Allen McVicker, 80 passed away on March 5, 2025. He was born in Akron, Ohio on July 24, 1944, to the late Donald and Dorothy McVicker. Growing up in Goodyear Heights, Steve was a 1962 graduate of East High School. He went on to serve six years in the U.S. Army Reserves and 25 years working for Ohio Bell, Ameritech and AT & T. Steve had a deep affinity for classic cars and was a great lover of music and Cleveland sports. In the late 80’s & early 90’s he made innumerable, fun-filled memories taking his daughter and nephew to Cleveland Indians games at the Old Municipal Stadium. A homebody in recent years, Steve enjoyed spending time with his family. He took great pride in maintaining his lawn and landscaping while his wife, Laura planted flowers around their yard. He enjoyed early mornings on his back patio and many evening sunsets on the front porch.
He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 53 years Laura (Lines) McVicker, daughter Brigit, sister JoAnn (Bill) Hall, sister-in-law, Judy and several nieces and nephews, including Jill, Kurt, Matthew, Michael and Skye.
In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-laws Eli and Mary Lines; brother Bruce McVicker and his beloved cat, Bailey.
Cremation has taken place and a private family Memorial Service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Friday, March 21st. To leave an online condolence or share a memory, see the guestbook below.
