Susan E. Sheeler, 91, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on October 7, 2025. She was born March 27, 1934, to Charles and Frances Faris in Des Moines. She graduated from Carlisle High School, Carlisle, Iowa in 1952. On May 30, 1953, she was united in marriage to William "Jim" Sheeler and quickly adapted to the country life and raising four children. They retired to Branson, Missouri, where they enjoyed going to shows, the lake, and making memories with friends and family.
Susan was active in church - playing piano and singing in the choir. She had occasional part time jobs, her favorites being a proofreader for Lee Town News and working in the kitchen for Branson schools. She loved music, traveling, spending time with family and friends and of course dogs! She devoted her life to Jim and raising their children, never putting her needs before others.
Susan is survived by her children, Julie (Jim) Volpe, Kim Sheeler, Andrea (Scott) Baker and William "Bill" Sheeler; grandchildren Luke (Tanya) Routson, Laura Volpe, Lindsey (Jonathan) Clemo, Brooklynn Sheeler and Matthew Sheeler, and several great grandchildren. Susan was preceded by her parents and her husband Jim, who she showed great love and courage to in his final days.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the loving staff at Spurgeon Manor, Dallas Center, Iowa for their exceptional care of Susan.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Free Church, Pleasant Hill, Iowa. The visitation will begin at 9am, followed by the funeral service at 11am. Interment will be at Rising Sun Cemetery, Pleasant Hill.
