Susan Mary Halloran Young, 56, of Belmar, NJ passed away peacefully at Riverview
Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ on July 18, 2024, after fighting complications from pancreatic
cancer. Susan was born December 29, 1967, in New Britain, CT, and later moved to
Montpelier, VT, and then to Bowie, MD, where she spent her childhood. She graduated
from Largo High School and Frostburg State University in Maryland where she met the
love of her life, Keith Young.
After graduation, Susan moved to New Jersey and worked in an outpatient mental health facility while pursuing her master's degree in special education at The College of New Jersey. She worked as a special education teacher at Christa McAuliffe Middle School and then at Jackson Memorial High School where she remained until her retirement in 2023. She cherished every one of her students and made a difference in countless lives.
Susan will be greatly missed by her husband, Keith; and by her two children Ryan (Nicole)
Young of Toms River, NJ, and Allison Young of Arlington, VA. She will also be dearly
missed by her Father, William Halloran; sisters Karen (Phil) Fedorchak and Elizabeth
(Jon) Tornquist; her nieces, Shannon and Erin Young, Hallie Fedorchak, and Catherine
and Caroline Tornquist; her nephew Matthew Fedorchak; as well as her brother-in-law
Kevin (Nancy) Young and sister in-Law, Sharon (Kathi) Young. She will also be missed
by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends, and her dog Bailey.
Susan is preceded in passing by her mother, Sandra Glynn Halloran.
Susan was a sports mom who never missed her kid's soccer, field hockey, lacrosse,
baseball games or swim meets. She loved adventure and planning trips was her favorite
hobby. She was often planning her next trip while on a trip! Her favorite places to travel
were the Grand Canyon and Ireland. She loved to camp, the beach, sunrises and
sunsets. She loved to be busy and filled her days with so many activities, yoga,
pickleball, bike rides, paddleboarding, hikes, and recently began golf lessons. She loved
Irish pubs and was always up to try a local IPA on every trip she took. She loved music
and turned many events into dance parties. She loved to spend time with family and
friends and was surrounded by those she loved the most until the end.
