Temple Dickerson "Carolyn" Beam

DURHAM ~ Temple "Carolyn" Dickerson Beam, born on February 27,1944, of Durham passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Duke Regional Hospital. Carolyn was the daughter of the late John Edward Dickerson and Ruby Christine Whitfield Dickerson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Robinson Beam; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Fred Russell; a niece, Kristie Godwin Rolan, and a nephew, Dean Dickerson.
Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of Northern High School and she attended Croft Business College. She was a retired executive assistant with Verizon and enjoyed volunteering for the Triangle Sertoma Club's fundraisers and golf tournaments. Carolyn and her husband were also the owners of Beam's Custom Carpets for many years and served the surrounding counties. She attended Rose of Sharon Baptist Church after attending Lednum Street Presbyterian Church during her younger childhood and adult years.
Carolyn is survived by her sons, Billy Robinson "Rob" Beam, II and Anthony "Tony" Wilson Beam; a brother, Wayne Dickerson (Debbie); sisters, Delbra Tysinger (Ron), Jessica "Johnnie" Godwin (Ken), Dianne Dickerson, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 1 pm prior to the funeral service to be conducted by Rev. Jeff McCarthy at 2 pm at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. A burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
