SUMMITVILLE, IN – Terry L. "Tex" Hockersmith, 75, entered peace and rest on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Community Hospital in Anderson after a 14-year journey through Parkison's Disease.

He was born on June 5, 1950, in Anderson to Robert and Margaret (Tappan) Hockersmith and has lived in the Summitville area all his lifetime. Terry graduated from Summitville High School-Class of 1968. He also received an associate degree from Purdue University. In 2000, Terry retired from Gentry Cabinets formerly of Anderson as shop foreman after 28 years of employment. He served his country in the Indiana National Guard. Terry was a 50-year member and Past Master of the former Summitville Masonic Lodge. He was a fan of Purdue athletics, the Chicago Cubs and the Indianapolis Colts. Terry and Beverly enjoyed traveling. He was a skilled woodworker. The Rock Steady Boxing group, of the Muncie YMCA, has made a significant positive contribution to Terry's Parkinson's journey. Of a particular enjoyment to Terry were the lady student therapists from Ball State University whom Terry affectionately labeled as his "girls!" A special relationship existed between his granddaughter Seva and her Papaw.

Son-Trent Hockersmith of Zionsville

Granddaughter-Seva Lydia Hockersmith

Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law- Sharon and Keith Baldwin

Niece-Julie (Jason) Schlabach

Nephew-Brian (Lauren) Baldwin

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services honoring Terry's life and legacy will take place at 6 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 West Walnut Street, Summitville with Pastor Nathan Lutterman officiating. Cremation will follow the services with private inurnment in Vinson Memorial Cemetery at Summitville. The Hockersmith family will receive friends after 4 pm Thursday prior to the services at the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health,
