Thomas B. McUmber, age 60 of Corning, New York passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at home.
He was born on October 6, 1963 in Corning, New York to Joan Cunningham. Thomas was a graduate of of the American Culinary Federation Education Institute of Florida as well as the Le Cordon Bleu School in London.
He was a very proud and accomplished Executive Chef and Pastry Chef specializing in sugar and chocolate sculpting.
His journey in culinary started locally working at the Greenhouse Restaurant in Painted Post and Spencer's Restaurant in Corning. He later was a chef for the PGA Tour and Operation Manager and Executive Chef for the Bank of America in Washington, D.C.
Tom loved having breakfast with his closest friends and he made many great memories with friends during the times he spent at the Woodhouse Stadium Grill in Corning. Tom enjoyed renovating his parent's home, and took pride in restoring the home alongside his good friend Noel.
Thomas is survived by two children: Brent (Candice) McUmber of FL, Kyle McUmber of NH; grandchildren: Lucas, Arya, Harper, Elijah; brother: Joseph (Kelly) McUmber of Campbell; aunts: Judy (Ken) Jones of Corning, Mary (Don) Faulisi of Corning; special friends: Deb Willson of Corning and Noel Bablo of Corning along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas was predeceased by both his parents Joan and Bob Cunningham.
Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney Street, Corning, NY on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4:00pm-6:00pm. A memorial service will immediately follow with Fr. Patrick Connor officiating.
