Obituary of Timothy O'Neill
We sadly announce Timothy Christopher O'Neill, known as Ted, aged 93, passed away at home in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 12, 2025.
He was born in Derrymeleen, Enniskeane, County Cork, Ireland, in 1931 to parents Felix and Bridget. He was the fourth oldest of nine children. Ted attended Farranferris College boarding school in Cork City, Ireland, and later received his engineering degree from the National University of Ireland, University College Cork.
After working briefly in Ireland, he was employed in London, England, for 6 years before emigrating to the United States aboard the SS Sylvania. He arrived in New York City in 1961.
Ted worked on an impressive number of projects throughout his nearly 50-year career as a structural engineer, including Pennsylvania Station, Madison Square Garden, the Museum of Modern Art, the World Trade Center Towers, and the U.S. Steel Building in Pittsburg.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ted was a devoted family man. He is survived by two sisters, Ellen (Eileen) and Ann; his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Ann; their six children, Timothy, Christopher, Teresa, Jennifer, Kevin, and Owen; and ten grandchildren, Garrett, Liam, Aidan, Michael, Aine, Eileen, Owen, Felix, Cormac, and Nora.
In his free time, he enjoyed landscaping, solving crossword puzzles, and playing bridge.
Ted will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family and friends.
Friends are invited to a Rosary at 11:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Memorials: If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
