Tony Michael Griffeth, age 68 of Pine Mountain, GA, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at his residence.
Mr. Griffeth was born September 19, 1956, in Winder, GA, the son of Harold R. Griffeth and Mary Ann Casper Griffeth. He was a 1974 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School and afterwards attended Georgia Tech and CVCC. He worked over fifteen years as a produce manager for Family Mart in Columbus before serving over twenty years as store manager for CVS Pharmacy in Lanett.
In addition to his work, Mr. Griffeth always took an active interest in his children and their activities. He loved sports and readily became involved with his son's baseball team, coaching the team continuously from Little League up through Senior League. He often filled the role of a father-figure to many of his children's teammates. After closely following the sports of both of his children, he continued his close interest with all of his grandchildren in their sports, attending all their games, and even traveling great distances to watch and support each of them.
Since 1997, Mr. Griffeth has been a devoted member of Hopewell Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He loved people, possessed a great sense of humor and was always full of laughter. He never met a stranger, was cordial to everyone he met, and was always willing to help anyone in need. In his work life, he saw that the needs of others were met and often regarded many employees as members of his own family. In addition to spending time with his children and grandchildren, he enjoyed gathering with friends to share and keep up with local news. Among his interests, he also enjoyed yard sales and thrifting and especially enjoyed buying and reselling at the local flea markets.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffeth was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Marie Saint Griffeth. This past October 9th would have marked their forty-eighth wedding anniversary. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jessie and June Saint, and a nephew, Joshua Davis.
He is survived by his two children, son, Michael (Kasi) Griffeth of Cataula, GA; and daughter, Kimberly Jackson of Pine Mountain, GA; six beloved grandchildren, Dobie Jackson, Sebastian Griffeth, Ellis Jackson, Noah Griffeth, Jessalyn Jackson and Phoenix Griffeth; a sister, Tina (Danny) Davis of Watkinsville, GA, and a brother, Terry Griffeth of Statham, GA; also, numerous extended family members.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2025, at Hopewell Church, 4400 Hopewell Church Rd, Pine Mountain, GA, with pastor Brent Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Hospice or the Friends of Hopewell Church Community Outreach Fund.
