Wilburn "Mike" Sitzman, 86, of Evansville, passed away July 18, 2025 in Evansville. He was born March 21, 1939 in Evansville to the late Rosedith (Wagner) Sitzman and Wilburn Sitzman.
Mike graduated from Memorial High School in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Hayden, on July 22, 1961.
He enjoyed a 30 year career working for Evansville Concrete where he served as General Manager, retiring in 1999. Mike served as president of the Indiana Concrete Council and Indiana Ready-Mixed Association. In 1997 he was presented the E. B. Rayburn, Jr. Award by the Indiana Ready-Mixed Concrete Association in recognition of Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Ready – Mixed Concrete.
Mike was an avid golfer. His favorite Evansville course was Thunderbolt Pass. He was a long time member of Thunderbolt Men's Club and enjoyed their annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach for more than 20 years. He was also a member of Cambridge Men's Golf Club. He was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mike was a former member of Knights of Columbus Council # 565 where he served as Grand Knight.
Mike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Betty of 64 years; daughter, Beth Goeltz (Tim Riess); three sons, Mike Jr. (Tina), Mark (Sandy), Scott (Kelsey Hillenbrand); grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Goeltz, Logen, Hayden, Madelynn, Mason, and Lilian Sitzman, Brianne Irvin, Ryan (Rachelle) Irvin, Kylie Riess, Chloe, Cecilia, and Caroline Hillenbrand; great-grandchildren, Marnie Irvin and Carter Flynn. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah Thomas; brother, Greg (Vicki) Sitzman; sister-in-law, Julie Sitzman; nieces and nephews, Laura, Jennifer, Chris, Lisa, Amy, Shawn, Paula, Jeff, and Seth.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Sitzman of Sealy, TX.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, where a memorial service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., with Father Bernie Etienne and Father Tempel officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville.
The family wants to thank Heart To Heart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Mike and his family and also a special thank you to Chelsea Hartman, his physical therapist.
The family is comforted knowing Mike is now with the Lord and reunited with his family who preceded him in death.
