William Charles (Bill) Brummer, 76, of
Huntington Beach, CA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 11, 2025, in Fountain Valley, CA.
Bill was born on October 2, 1948, in Glendale, CA, to Robert and Adonna Brummer. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1966. On July 12, 1969, he married the love of his life, Margaret (Sweet) Brummer. That same year, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and completed Basic Training before receiving an Honorable Discharge for medical reasons in 1970.
He went on to earn an associate degree from Cypress College, completing the Psychiatric Technology Program. Bill dedicated his entire professional life to serving those in need of mental health support and services, first as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) at Charter Baywood Hospital and later at Alondra Crest Hospital, working in that field for nearly 15 years. He spent the remainder of his career supporting the mentally ill and unhoused community of Santa Ana at a local shelter.
Bill had a love for reading, photography, crossword puzzles, fantasy football, and playing cards with family and friends. Having survived polio and Guillain-Barré syndrome as a child, he developed a lifelong commitment to raising awareness and support for muscular dystrophy. For over 35 years, he donated annually to the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Ann Brummer, and their daughter, Trisha Michelle Brummer, both of Huntington Beach; his sister, Tamara Collier of Granada Hills; his brother, Charles Cook of Huntington Beach; his sister, Michelle Ferkas of Denver; and several nieces and nephews: Jennifer McLaughlin of Cunningham, Jason Sweet of Newport News, Sean Collier of Kenosha, Tiffany Cook of Palmdale, Jesse Cook of Santa Monica, Noelle Sisson of Loveland, and Veronica Sisson of North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Adonna Cook of North Hollywood; his biological father, Robert (Bob) Brummer of Colorado Springs; his stepfather, John (Gig) Cook of North Hollywood; and his beloved aunt, Charlotte Brummer of Colorado Springs.
The family has chosen not to hold services at this time but wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Heritage-Dilday Memorial Services Mortuary for their compassion and support during this difficult period.
