William "Bill" Joseph Evans, 67, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 surrounded by family at his home. He was born February 28, 1956, in Evansville, to the late Robert J. and Bettye Jane (McGowan) Evans.
Bill was a 1974 graduate of Memorial High School. He was a surgical technician at St. Mary's Medical Center and retired from Neurosurgical Consultants. He owned and operated Haubstadt Video in the early 1990's where he made many lifelong friends. He also worked for Pangburn Enterprises, making additional lifelong friends. Bill was an active member of St. Benedict Cathedral and volunteered in many capacities such as BINGO, the summer social, Parish Council, and as an usher and counter. He had a bigger than life personality and never met a stranger. He made sure that he addressed everyone and showed a keen interest in them and what was going on with them in their life. He enjoyed playing golf with family and friends, porch sitting on the weekends while listening to and singing with Frank Sinatra, and meeting with the "Guys" on Saturday's at 6 am for breakfast.Most of all, Bill loved spending time with his family and especially treasured the time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol (Evrard) Evans; daughters, Crystal (Rob) McIntosh and Angela (Glenn) Skelton; grandchildren, Haily (Alex) Towery, Kayla Carter, Jakob Carter, Jonah Fish, Alayna Skelton, Madison Hinton (Schuyler) and Taylor (Christopher) Lant; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Josie, Ivy, Tyler and Amelia; brothers, Michael (Cindy) Evans and David (Rosanna) Evans; sisters, Patricia (Jim) Levell and Mary (Dennis) Merrill; sister-in-law, Joan Evans; and special family friend, Mary Lou Fish.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, James Evans.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville with a Memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Jeremy King officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Bill. As well as Tom, Charlie, Judy, and his family for helping him to do the things that he was truly interested in doing during the time of his illness.

Bill was defiantly one of a kind! I worked with him for many years at St. Mary´s, and have many fond memories of him. He always had a joke. He always had a smile. He will be greatly missed. Please accept my deepest sympathy for you, Carol and your family. Rest in peace friend.

Carol and girls- so very sorry to hear of Bill´s passing . Bill was one of a kind- he always had a smile and his sense of humor was unforgettable. I hope he and Mike are enjoying breakfast in heaven.
