William "Danny" Still, a cherished father, grandfather, and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on September 10, 1948, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Danny was the beloved son of Roger and Ruby Still and the only brother nestled among six sisters.
Danny, a proud graduate of Southport High School, answered the call of duty and served his country with valor as a Marine in Vietnam, where he was a member of the 1st Recon Battalion. He later enlisted in the Army National Guard and was deployed during Operation Desert Storm as a member of the 1438th Transportation Unit. His courage and dedication to service were hallmarks of his character.
His love for baseball was only matched by his playful spirit and his somewhat shy nature, which endeared him to many. Danny's sense of humor brought laughter and joy to those around him.
Danny's life was defined by love and family. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Linda, who preceded him in death. Together, they raised a family that became Danny's pride and joy. He is survived by his daughter, Missy (Ron) Hurt, and sons, Danny Jr., and Jason (Brittney) Still. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Chelsea (Josh) Snell, Cody (Mary Summar) Hurt, Daniel and Cody Bracken, Aralyn Still, and Megyn Hurt, who will carry forward the values of love and courage that he instilled in them.
With a great sadness at losing you, we will always find you in our hearts and memories. See you in that bungalow in the sky.
