Dr. C.E. Buddy Hicks passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017. He was born February 1, 1938 to Clyde and Irene Hicks (Tonello) in Electra, TX. In 1963, he committed his life to Christ. He graduated with a B.S. from Southwestern University, MDV from TCU Brite Divinity School, M.Th. from University of St. Thomas, and D.Min. from Luther Rice Seminary. He met his wife, Carolyn Morrow in 1965 at a revival that he was preaching. They were married May 27, 1967 in Ft. Worth, TX. In 1970, Buddy and Carolyn moved to Houston to be a youth pastor at Evangelistic Temple. For 5 years they pastored a revival during the Jesus Movement. From 1975 - 1990, they ministered throughout the US. In 1991, they moved to the Humble area where they still reside. He was networked with churches, businesses, school districts, and local, state, and federal leaders. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Hicks; daughters, Angela Haydel and Shari (Mike) May; and son Trey Hicks; grandson, Cole Haydel; and granddaughter, Zoey May; sisters and brother, Johnnye White and husband Bill, Dr. Dub Hicks and wife Sherline, and Pauline Campbell and husband John. Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Bettye Tanner Shelby.
A Celebration of Life was held April 8, 2017, at 11am at New Covenant Church, 901 Wilson Rd, Humble, TX 77338. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Park, Humble, TX. Gifts can be sent in his name to: Somebody Cares Humble, 120 E Main St, Humble, TX 77338.
