Jack Throop

Jack Edwin Throop passed away on October 15, 2015 in Kingwood, Texas, at the age of 78. A native of northern California, he graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and then served in the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer. It was during this time he met and married the love of his life, Joanne Pembroke.

They resided in Slidell, Louisiana for 14 years where Jack was very involved in the community and St. Margaret Mary Church. He was elected to the City Council and served on the City Planning Commission. In 1980, Archbishop Philip Hannan presented Jack with the "Oder of St. Louis" medallion in recognition of his great dedication and years of service to the church in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Jack spent the balance of his 28 years with Lockheed Martin at Johnson Space Center. Upon retiring he relocated to Kingwood where he formed a consulting business, writing proposals for government contractors. He also became an active volunteer at Martha's Kitchen, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Friends of the Library Kingwood, and served on the Board of Directors of IN-KIDS.

Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne; two daughters, Catherine and Gretchen, their spouses and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Martha Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J.
