Joy Ardith Greiner

1929 - 2024

Joy Ardith Swanson Greiner was born July 22, 1929 in Omaha, Neb., to Joseph and Laura Swanson. She grew up on a farm and was the youngest of seven children. Joy met the love of her life, Burton Greiner, when they worked at rival banks and would conduct business over the phone. She and Burton were married when she was only 19 and their marriage lasted until his death in 1977. After her husband died, Joy became a travel agent and worked in the travel industry for 27 years. She opened her own agency, "Travel with Joy" and operated this business for 20 years. During this time, she enjoyed traveling all over the world and always managed to have room in her suitcase to bring back lots of souvenirs of her adventures! She also found time to take many management and marketing classes and in addition was active in numerous community civic groups. She was a past president of the Business and Professional Group and had the honor of winning the Family Time Women of Achievement Business Award in 1998. Joy enjoyed painting, quilting, and hooking (with yarn!) with the "Happy Hookers." She liked to be known for her outgoing personality.

Mrs. Greiner was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, Burton Eugene Greiner; her great-grandson, Jordan Eugene Boscia; and her son-in-law, Ronald Douglas. She is survived by her daughters, Kendra Wetuski and husband, Patrick of Kingwood, Texas, Tamara Greiner of Tomball, Texas; her granddaughter, Katherine Boscia, her husband, James Boscia; and her great-grandson, Jackson Boscia of Brownsburg, Ind. She also enjoyed her many nieces, nephews, and close friends, especially those from her travel days and Watercrest Senior Living Facility.

Joy's memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 23, 2024 at Darst Funeral Home, 700 Russell Palmer Rd., in Kingwood, Texas 77339.
