Dawn Davis Obituary

Dawn Davis
Dawn (Dittmar) Davis, longtime resident of Monroe, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on April 5, 2023. She was 50.
Dawn was born May 8, 1972 in New Britain, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Sandra Platosh. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University for both her undergraduate and masters of education degrees, followed by a sixth year degree from the Graduate Institute. She was employed by the Milford Public Schools and worked as a Biology Teacher at Joseph A. Foran High School. She is survived by her three beautiful children, Colin, Lauren and Erin, their father, Christopher Davis, her sister, Jennifer (Hodgkins) Iacino, as well as too many friends and family to list.
Dawn put everything she had into life. She was a dedicated and passionate friend, teacher and most importantly, mother. She made this world a better place with her kindness, strength, laughter, bravery and compassion.
In her professional life, Dawn would work tirelessly, spending many nights and weekends, correcting papers or creating new content. She gave all and had high expectations for her students. Many who, later on, sent her thank you cards for all she taught them.
With her many friends, Dawn created amazing deep relationships. She enjoyed shopping trips, going to concerts, sitting on the beach, taking pictures, watching a movie or catching up over a great meal. She was always there to support her friends.
Above all, Dawn was an amazing mom. Many friends have said to her children that she was the example they would try to live up to, but couldn't match. Just one look at her smile while watching her kids enjoy their many activities, you could see her pride and love for them. Dawn always made sure that her kids would have extraordinary experiences. There was nothing more important to her than being there for her kids and supporting them. Dawn absolutely radiated with pride, while watching her son, Colin, run track; from coming home from running camp as a youngster with a neck full of medals, to becoming All State, and Silver medaling at the Outdoor Nationals in North Carolina in a Sprint Medley relay. Dawn would positively glow watching Lauren perform and would go to every showing of Lauren's plays, from middle school ensemble parts to lead roles in high school, her favorite was Mamma Mia. Dawn also encouraged Lauren to take vocal and dance lessons, and would drive her to countless sessions. Colin and Lauren would tease that Erin was Dawn's favorite, this was not true, they were all her favorites. Dawn was also the epitome of the soccer mom. There was no distance too far for Dawn to travel and support Erin in her passion for soccer. There are too many states and tournament traveled to, and soccer teams to list, but for those in the soccer community, Dawn was an amazing fixture. Dawn was the rock that helped Erin comeback from a freshman year ACL tear.
Dawn promoted academics and citizenship in Colin, Lauren and Erin. Her legacy will live on through them. Colin, an Eagle Scout, recently graduating from University of Rhode Island with a Computer Engineering Degree and getting his first engineering job right out of school. Lauren is studying as a sophomore at Ursinus College and continues to get High Honors. Erin, a junior at Masuk High School, continues to also be on the honor roll along with becoming a Captain in three sports, Soccer, Indoor Track and Outdoor track. Dawn was so proud and her children are proud to have had Dawn as their Mom, and now their Guardian Angel.
Friends and family are invited to Spadaccino and Leo P Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT, from 4-8pm on Monday, April 10th as we gather to celebrate.
