Ada graduated from PORTA High School in Petersburg, Illinois. She then attended Illinois State University where she earned her master's degree. She was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Petersburg. She served as the former Chief of Police in Greenview and later worked for the post office before retiring. She volunteered her time cooking at the A.M. Vets and also organized the annual post office food drive. She was an avid animal lover.
Ada is survived by her cousins, Hugh (Sally) Zimmerman, Linda (Lee) Nance, Pat (Sara) Melton, Sally Rebbe, Doris (Gary) Webb, Harry (Teresa) Melton, Karen Melton, Kevin Zimmerman, James (Rhonda) Zimmerman, Mark Zimmerman, John (Sharon) Zimmerman and Christopher (Jenny) Melton; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm immediately followed by a funeral service with Fr. Puthussery Varghese officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, 711 S. 6th St, Petersburg, Illinois 62675, Menard County Animal Control, 19376 Sunny Acres Rd, Petersburg, Illinois 62675, or Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd, Springfield, Illinois 62702.

I was surprised and saddened to see this. Ada was a friend of mine from early childhood. Whenever I visited my aunts in the summer, there was my buddy across the street, ready to have fun. You lose touch over the years and the miles, but I do remember the fun times, and how nice her parents were to me. RIP, friend.
