Adam Frank Szanyi

Adam Frank Szanyi, age 37, of Carneys Point, NJ passed away suddenly after complications from pneumonia on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Born in Dover, New Hampshire, he was the son of Frank and Margaret (Prettyman) Szanyi and he spent time growing up in New Hampshire and Ohio before his family moved to New Jersey in 1996. Adam was a 2005 graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School and went on to earn his Associate's Degree in Graphic Design and his Bachelor's Degree in Advertising from Rowan University. In 2012, he started his career at PSE & G working security until recently, when he earned his certification to work as a nuclear maintenance mechanic.
Adam was a jack of all trades. He was good at everything he ever tried, and if he felt he wasn't "good enough," he worked even harder to be better. Adam loved to read, tell bad jokes, watch movies, make knives, lift weights, sleep in late, and dream about the hobbies that were paused after the birth of his beloved sons. He was an avid Phillies, Gators (yes, really), and Eagles fan. Adam hated onions, the Mets, wearing anything but shorts, and losing at mini golf.
To know Adam was to love him. If you knew him, you knew you were loved, and there's a pretty good chance he told you that. During his time here, he found a way into everyone's heart. Adam had a presence about him that brought a little more light into every room he ever entered. Our world is much less bright without him. In memory of Adam, try to listen to hear, not respond; do your part to lighten another's load.
Adam is survived by his loving wife, Jensine (McKie) Szanyi; his sons Quint Eddard Szanyi and Roland Scott Szanyi; his father and mother Frank and Margaret Szanyi of Pennsville; his brothers Bryan Szanyi and his wife Bobbi Jo of Woodstown, and Mark Szanyi and his wife Autumn of West Union, SC; his paternal grandparents Edward and Ellen Szanyi of Kirtland, OH; and his "Pop" George Prettyman of Brick, NJ. He was predeceased by his beloved boxer dogs Charlie and Henry, his "Grammy" Margaret Thesing and Jensine's "Nana" Edith Babb.
Services will be held on Monday night, December 18, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home, 64 Broad Street, Woodstown, NJ 08098. There will be a visitation starting at 5 PM leading to the memorial service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to Jensine Szanyi to be placed in trust for their boys, Quint and Roland.
