Full Name: Albert J. Berlin
Date of Death: Wednesday, April 17, 2024
Albert J. Berlin 1935-2024 passed away surrounded by his loved ones. We will gather to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who exemplified consistency, integrity, and unwavering love. Services will be held Friday at 11 am at the Louis Suburban Chapel 13-01 Broadway Fair Lawn NJ, followed by a graveside at the Americus Cemetery N. Midland Ave Saddle Brook and then visitation at Dave and Margie's home in Basking Ridge NJ. Al is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years Dolores – sons David and Alan, his daughter-in-law Marjorie, and grandchildren Alix and Jake. His Brother Joseph, sister-in-law Joanne, and their children, spouses and grandchildren.
Born and raised in Teaneck, NJ, Al grew up in humble surroundings, instilled with values of gratitude and humility. From a young age, he embodied reliability and dedication, faithfully working part time jobs and achieving the highest academic marks before heading off to graduate Rutgers University, Al approached every endeavor with the same steadfast commitment.
Al's life took a significant turn when he joined the ROTC at Rutgers, leading to his distinguished role as a helicopter pilot. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Dolores, a bond that would endure for nearly 65 years. Their love story, beginning with a chance meeting arranged by a friend, blossomed swiftly, culminating in marriage within a year.
Throughout his professional journey, from his days at Ford and J&J to his life's work in what started as small entrepreneurial venture Video Corporation of America, Al demonstrated an unparalleled work ethic and an unwavering dedication to excellence, which propelled VCA for nearly 50 years to become one of the largest systems integrators in the country. He approached each day with precision, instilling in those around him a sense of purpose.
But beyond his professional achievements, Al's greatest legacy lies in the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. As a brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather, mentor, boss and friend, he embodied kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. His devotion to his family, friends and colleagues knew no bounds, and his presence lit up the lives of all who knew him.
Al's commitment to showing and contributing was unwavering. Whether financially, lending a helping hand, offering sage advice, or simply being there to listen, he touched countless lives with his compassion and selflessness.
As we bid farewell to Al, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved and inspired. His legacy of love, integrity, and unwavering dedication will continue to guide us in the days ahead.
Rest in peace, Al. Your presence will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the countless lives you touched.
