ALLEN RICHARD
Jan 29,1931-April 19,2025
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we the family of Allen Richard announce his passing on Saturday April 19th at the age of 94. Allen was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was a widely known musician who played and recorded with Joe Falcon and many others. Many knew him as "Rich" during the many years he worked at John Deere. After his retirement he volunteered his time playing music at the nursing home in Gueydan for over 25 years.
Allen is survived by the love of his life and wife of 66 years Theresa Richard, his two sons Pat Richard and wife Patricia of Lyons Point, and Clinton Richard of Gueydan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Chantelle R. Kerley, Patrick Joseph (PJ) Richard, Jesse Richard all of Jennings and Gabe Richard of Gueydan along with 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews all of whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents Amar and Zeodie Hebert Richard, brothers Querie, Eulan and Roland Richard, sisters Annie Mae Abshire and Alva Jane Richard all of Gueydan.
Visitation will be on Tuesday April 22, 2025, from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm at Mathews & Son Funeral Home at 514 Second St. in Gueydan. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Visitation will resume Wednesday April 23, 2025, at 8:00 am until time of service at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in the Gueydan Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home and Lamm Family Care Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during our beloved Allen's final weeks. Also thanks to his special sister in law Marilyn Fontenot for all her help.
