Bruce Berton Nuss, 65, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by family at his home In Mandeville. Bruce grew up in Metairie, graduated from Brother Martin High School and earned his degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his beloved children, Reid Nuss and Elizabeth Nuss Rivault (Hayes); two cherished grandchildren, Ted and Mary Beth, sisters Brenda Read (Tom), Nancy Ferger (Henry), Sharon Meilleur (Chris), along with several nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, “Coach” Bobby Nuss, his mother, Lynn Nuss, his brother, Bobby Nuss, and sister, Susanne Marion.
Bruce most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether traveling or celebrating local food and music. Aways ready for adventure or to lend a hand, a friend of Bruce’s was a friend for life as he possessed a seemingly tireless energy and talent for nurturing those he cared about. For more than 25 years, Bruce built a successful career in dental implant sales, where he was greatly respected for his dedication and integrity. He retired from ZimVie in July of 2024, finishing Top Regional Manager in the US. With a love of sports and following in the footsteps of his father, Bruce was a proud member of the New Orleans Saints Chain Crew for almost 35 years. He was an avid fisherman and wetland conservationist and ceaselessly enthusiastic about every challenge he took on---from raising chickens and beekeeping to hiking 230 miles of the John Muir Trail in 20 days. Throughout his yearlong struggle with cancer, Bruce remained cheerful and optimistic, embracing his faith, family and the many friends he cultivated over the course of his life. His warm and welcoming smile, dedication to family and commitment to serving others will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin Thursday, August 28 th, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville, with Funeral Mass following at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana’s Oyster Shell Project (see CRCL.org).
