Carl Eric Fulton

Dr. Carl Eric Fulton died peacefully in his home on April 8, 2025 due to Glioblastoma. He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on July 9, 1961, to the late Richard K. Fulton and Ann K. Fulton. His early years with his parents and siblings involved many moves – Colorado, Australia, New Zealand, Arizona and Texas. This started Carl's love for travel.
Carl graduated from Canyon High School (Canyon, Texas) in 1979. He completed his undergraduate degree at West Texas State and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University. Carl was a proud Aggie until he moved to Arkansas and then he became a diehard Razorback fan. He also rooted for the Dallas Cowboys even in the tough years.
In 1991, Carl met and married Kathy Lovett. They have two daughters, Kaitlyn and Amy. Carl loved being a girl dad especially during their soccer years. He shared with them his enjoyment of water activities making sure they knew how to swim, drive a boat, snorkel and scuba dive. He was so proud of the careers that his daughters chose and the adults that they have become.
Carl followed in his father's footsteps to become a veterinarian. He owned and operated Faulkner County Veterinary Clinic in Greenbrier, AR for over 35 years. Dr. Fulton (Doc) devoted himself to caring for his clients and their owners. He started out as a large and small animal practitioner working with dogs, cats, cattle, horses, bison and even elephants. Delivering 3 baby elephants for Riddle's Elephant Sanctuary was a highlight of his career.
Carl's hobby was having hobbies. He spent his free time swimming, boating, fly fishing, duck hunting, playing poker with his buddies and writing a book, "Elephants in Arkansas: The Musings of an Arkansas Veterinarian." He loved music and attending concerts. Traveling with Kathy and his girls to meet up with family or friends was also a favorite past time. Carl was a talker and made friends on every trip he took. He loved telling stories. His favorites were getting to serve Dolly Parton a Coke on her tour bus and receiving a call from Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus asking to speak to the "Arkansas elephant expert".
Carl was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Conway. He had a passion for church missions. Carl led a mission trip from the Greenbrier United Methodist Church to Mexico to build a cinder block house. He and his mother, Ann, participated in a mission to Santiago, Chile to renovate a home for adults with developmental disabilities. Carl and daughter, Amy, went on a medical mission trip to Belize with the Iguana Squad.
Carl is survived by his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Kaitlyn Fulton and Amy Schumacher; son-in-law, Chase Schumacher; mother, Ann Fulton; sister, Andrea Sharp; brother-in-law, Paul Sharp; brother-in-law, Bob Lovett; sister-in-law, Jane Lovett; along with aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding him in death were his father, Richard Fulton; brother, Jim Fulton; in-laws, Robert and Dorothy Lovett and niece, Taylor Lovett.

Special thanks to Kaitlyn for moving home to be a private nurse to her dad and friend/counselor to her mom.
A celebration of life will be held for Carl at the First Presbyterian Church in Conway, 2400 Prince Street (72034) on Sunday, April 13th at three o'clock in the afternoon. Private burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Booneville, AR.
Carl had hoped to be a part of his church's mission to Katali, Africa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the First Presbyterian Church missions or the mission of your choice.
