Carroll Leich Kaylor, 81, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Heritage Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born October 2, 1943 in Evansville to the late Dr. Charles F. and Carroll (Duncan) Leich.
Carroll graduated from Memorial High School in 1961. She attended Fontbonne University and graduated from Indiana University in 1965. Carroll married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Robert J. Kaylor, in 1966. She worked for Ambassador Cards, a division of Hallmark from 1989 to 2013.
Carroll was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral and a former member of Junior League of Evansville. She really loved talking and connecting with people. Carroll had a gift of making others feel important and treated everyone with kindness. Everyone who met Carroll liked her immediately. She knew so many people that she couldn't go anywhere without running into someone she knew. Carroll was thoughtful and generous and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend. She cherished her Leich family heritage and loved to read about Evansville history. Carroll enjoyed giving back to the community by doing such things as donating food to Patchwork Central and serving food during Thanksgiving at the Salvation Army. Her love for pets and stray cats was unmatched, as were the hugs she offered so generously. It's hard to put into words how truly special she was. She created a legacy and made her mark here on Earth.
She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly K. Spainhoward (George) and Alisa "Ali" Kaylor; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Quentin, Zane, Xavier and Piper Spainhoward; nephew, Timothy Heierman; brother-in-law, Gerald Heierman; and many cousins.
In addition to her parents, Carroll was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert J. Kaylor; brother, Charles D. Leich; and sister, Elizabeth Leich Heierman.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2024 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Ted Tempel officiating. The service will be livestreamed on Carroll's tribute page at www.ziemerfuneralhome.com starting ten minutes prior to service time.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Patchwork Central, 100 Washington Ave., Evansville, IN 47713 or Alzheimer's Association, 701 N. Weinbach Ave., #510, Evansville, IN 47711.
