It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charlene J. Vanness, age 68, who left this world on January 25, 2025. Born on March 19, 1956, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Charlene was the beloved daughter of Charles and Rose Sklarski. Her life was a tapestry woven with passion, dedication, and love for all living beings.
Charlene embarked on her academic journey with dreams of becoming a medical doctor, attending both Michigan State University and Wayne State University. While her career took a different path, her fervor for life led her to the world of quarter horses, where she made her mark as a skilled horse trainer and competitor. Charlene's love for horses was evident in her successful youth showings and the acquisition of her cherished stallion, Mr. Poco Music, an AQHA Champion. Her legacy shines through as she raised a two-time world champion pleasure mare, a testament to her unwavering commitment and expertise.
Charlene's gentle spirit and profound love for animals touched countless lives, and her friends and family will forever remember her caring heart. She joyfully shared her life with her devoted husband, Ronald Vanness, with whom she celebrated 51 years of marriage. She is also survived by her stepchild Renae and her nephew Chad, who will carry her memory forward.
Charlene J. Vanness will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain alive in our hearts.
