Coit L. Altland
DOVER – Coit L. Altland, 96, entered into rest at 5:37 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of the late Janet K. (Urich) Altland, who died May 4, 2024. They were married 64 years.
Born April 14, 1928 in Dover, he was a son of the late George and Josie (Wolgamuth) Altland.
Coit was a U.S. Army veteran. He had worked for McKay Chain and later, PADE Auto Auction and also mowed lawn for Salem Cemeteries in Dover.
Coit was a former member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and Dover Area Ambulance Club. He enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets and public sales, as well as selling tires and cutting grass.
Coit is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Ferry and husband, Butch and Lori R. Altland, all of Dover; four grandchildren, Valerie Brosend, Cassandra Reese(Ben), Coty Altland(Mandy) and Michael Harbold, Jr.; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer McCloskey(Ryan) and Jessica Barrick and their families; and six great grandchildren, Destiny, Dylan, Makayla, Makenna and Hunter Reese and Ellie Altland. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Little Dave and his siblings, Sylvester Spahr, Victor Altland, Ester Jones, Stuart Altland, Gladys Altland, Ray Altland, Bertha Ruppert, Junior Altland and Miriam Altland.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Coit's graveside service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in Salem Union Cemetery, 2705 W. Canal Rd., Dover where veteran's honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be Scott Rees. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice Care, 984 Loucks Rd., Suite I, York, PA 17404.
