Craig Jeffrey Rasmussen
January 14, 1950 – February 21, 2025
Our Good Looking, slow walking, fast talking, humble, wisdom wise Cowboy slipped into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father in the early hours of the morning. He had always wanted to see the sunrise in heaven and meet his brother Jesus Christ.
Craig was born in Billings Montana to Kenneth P. and Elsie Simon Rasmussen. At a young age his family moved back to Sandy Utah where Craig eventually graduated from Jordan High. He was the infamous number #66 on the football team and was elected as the "Second Most Preferred Man".
After he graduated from high school, Craig served an LDS mission to Bakersfield California on the Navajo reservation. He brought home the love for the people and their culture.
After his mission he came home and attended Weber State University minoring in interior design and majoring in auto body repair. He also moonlighted for his father in laying carpet and other flooring.
Craig's career led him to his eternal partner. He would go to KFC on 3900 South State Street for lunch and soon noticed a cute girl. His friend said he should ask her out and the rest is history. Craig proposed to Pamela Drake having a ring in a card. When she opened it, the ring fell on the ground. His story was always, "she kicked it down the sidewalk" but we all know that wasn't quite the real truth. On June 20, 1975 they were married and sealed as an eternal couple in the Salt Lake Temple.
Craig and Pam started their family in South Jordan where they raised six children. They lived on a small farm raising a little of everything including Chinchillas and Bison. The Shire draft horse became a passion for Craig and he loved driving his team in parades and giving hayrides. Craig taught his kids the value of working hard with their hands and being trustworthy.
Craig had a love for his church callings. He was scout master for five years and each of his boys achieved their Eagle rank. He was one of the first troops to become all Eagles. He served in the Elders Quorum, Sunday School, and Bishopric. After 32 years as a South Jordan resident the opportunity came to move to Bluffdale.
For ten years Craig was Animal Control and Code Enforcement for Bluffdale City. After retirement he enjoyed his gentleman farm life. He loved gardening and freeze drying his produce. He loved serving in his new ward in the Sunday School presidency and as a teacher for Primary. He also enjoyed the privileged calling of an Ordinance worker in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple for nine years.
Craig is survived by his wife Pam and children; Kenneth Lee (KL)(Mandy), Jason (Melanie), Melanie (Kresdon), Neil (Jill), Jamie (Brian), Brian (Ashley). Grandchildren; Ashlee, Victoria, Corben, Constence, Sawyer, Kayson, Asher, Laiklee, Madisynn, Easton, Taylor, Rian, Samantha, Charlie, and Rhett. Great granddaugher SkyLynne. Craig's siblings; Brent (Tenesa), Dale, Joyanne (Richard), Thayne (Chris), Keith (Kathy), Vickie (Moses), and Annette (Scott).
The Rasmussen family would like to thank the following: Dr. Anea and the Intermountain Dialysis care team, the care team of True North Home and Hospice, and Jenkins-Soffe for their loving nurture during Craig's final days.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Jenkins-Soffe on 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway from 1:00-2:30 pm and graveside service from 3:00 pm-4:00 pm at the South Jordan City Cemetery at 10630 South 1055 West.

So very sorry for your loss. It has been said it takes a village to raise a child. I was definitely blessed to be in his village.
Sincerely,
