I'm so sad to hear of Danny's passing. I started working for Danny, I believe in 1977, at Treasure Island in Ft. Walton Beach, until he finally moved to PCB. I have many memories of Danny, some good some not so good. I loved it when the " shell truck" would come in from Panama City. He and I would go outside and into the back of that 18 wheeler and pick out shells to sell in Treasure Island. Danny trusted me with his business which really made me feel like someone special, especially since I was a young teenager only out of high school for a couple of years. We stayed in contact after he moved and I would visit him whenever possible. I don't think I ever missed calling him on his birthday. Danny was a great boss and even a better friend.

My family has a cottage on the same street as The Shell Shack and we enjoyed visiting with "Mr. Dan" each time we were there. He was especially kind to my daughter, who was four when they first met, (she is 21 now) and he would graciously spend time answering her questions about shells and sea- life even making paying customers wait until they were finished with their conversation. She never left without a "treat" from him. He taught her a lot over the years, and I learned a lot from their conversations, too! We will miss Mr. Dan. Our visit with him was a favorite part of each vacation. Sincerely, Jennifer Dempsey
