Donald Roy Kanode Sr.

Donald Roy Kanode Sr., 83 of Delaware, Ohio passed peacefully with his family by his side at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
Born December 10, 1941 in Morrow County, Ohio, one of 6 children to the late Millroy & Dorothy Mae (Carrol) Kanode. Donald attended and later graduated from Elm Valley High School in 1961. Donald worked for Boyd's Construction as a welder, which he continued for 23 years and worked for them until they went out of business
Donald was introduced to Fay Rosalie Kean, by his sister, and they have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Additional survivors include sons Donald R. (Joell) Kanode Jr. of Pataskala, Ohio, Christopher L. (Tonya) Kanode of Delaware, Ohio and Kelly L. (Amanda) Kanode of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren Christopher, Brian, Zachary, Micah, Joel and Kaylee, with 1 great-granddaughter on the way; brothers Loren & William (Ann) Kanode; sisters Bernice Sherrow and Maxine (James) Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carolyne Kanode.
Donald enjoyed being outdoors and working with his hands. He was always using his creativity, whether he was building his own 9-foot John Boat to go fishing with his boys, or building his own lawn tractor. He was an avid vegetable gardener, an amazing welder, and was always starting a new project. He was also musically inclined and could play multiple instruments, including the accordion and keyboard. Those close to him remember him as the resilient, complex, and sometimes stubborn husband, father, and grandfather that he was.
Friends may join the family on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Delaware Chapel, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. A service celebrating the significance of Donald's life will follow at 6:00 pm.
