Gerald R. Fahey, age 79, of Wilmette, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Born on August 16, 1945, in Chicago, Gerry was the son of John and Marie (née Walsh) Fahey. He attended St. Patrick High School and went on to earn a degree in chemistry, with honors, from the University of Illinois Chicago with extended studies at DePaul University and the University of Chicago. He also served in the U.S. Navy on the submarine USS Dogfish.
He was a chemist with a love for the banjo and music. His science background led him to work for Gillette and Stone Container.
Gerry was married to his wife, Mary, for 36 wonderful years. Introduced by friends, they went on and made many beautiful memories together. They shared adventures on their sailboat on Lake Michigan, traveled across the country, enjoyed camping, and caring for their beloved pets.
He is survived by many cherished cousins and dear family friends. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack, and his beloved wife.
Gerry will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laugh, generous spirit and sweet smile. His life and endless stories were a gift to those lucky enough to know him and will carry his memory with love and gratitude.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Service and Interment are private.
