Mary Inez Hatch Baylor, 79, of Bridgewater, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Inez was born in Cary, NC on July 13, 1944, and was a daughter of the late Sam and Viola (Coffman) Hatch.
Inez graduated from Turner Ashby High School, class of 1962. She had worked on the family farm prior to working at Staunton Montessori School and Keister Elementary School as a teaching assistant. After retirement, she enjoyed working JMU sporting events for RMC Events and substitute teaching for Rockingham County Schools. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids in their numerous sporting events. Inez was involved in sports at Turner Ashby High School, East Rockingham High School and Spotswood High School. Inez loved traveling, especially to Chincoteague. She enjoyed spending time with people, especially kids. Family gatherings were special times for her, and she loved Christmas.
Inez was united in marriage to Robert Henry "Bob" Baylor who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Eric (Angie) Baylor, of Rockingham, Brad (Bridget) Baylor, of Bridgewater, and Brandi (Matt Curry) Baylor, of Bridgewater; her sister, Betsy (Stanley) Rosenberg; eight grandchildren, Lauren Baylor, Allison Baylor, Blake Baylor, Beau Baylor, Jacob Baylor, Morgan Milligan, Ethan Curry, and Jackson Curry; and her furry companions.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Terry Smiley.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
A service celebrating Inez's life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater with Rev. D.R. Carlson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Valley Animal Service Center, 1001 Mt. Torrey Rd., Lyndhurst, VA 22952.
