Isidore "Paul" Jasmin III, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at his home. Born July 14th, 1948 in Winsted; to the late Isidore Paul Jasmin Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Dietlin) Jasmin.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, David Jasmin
Paul leaves behind a lifelong legacy of hard work, honesty, dedication and perseverance. And for those that knew him well, understood that behind a tough exterior, there was a quiet kindness.
From a young age, it was clear he had a natural ability to repair just about anything. A graduate of Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, he applied his mechanical degree to his 20 plus year career, working for SNET in Hartford and later transferring to Winsted where he oversaw maintaining the entire phone company fleet in the area. One job was never enough for Paul and through the years, while still working at SNET, he also worked for Frank Fredsall Sawmill. Weekends and any spare time were also filled with side jobs and projects. Though they are too numerous to include, some dear to his heart were working for Phil Jacquier Auctioneer, working on his fixer uppers, and applying his love of cooking catering at local events.
After retiring from SNET he went on to establish his own company as owner and sole operator of Jasmins LP gas. His "part-time" retirement plans soon turned into 30 plus years of 7 days a week, around the clock dedication servicing his customers. Many of those years included his trusted companion and beloved dog Benny by his side in the delivery truck.
But with all of this commitment, he always found time to serve his community he loved. Serving 14 years as a Selectman for the town of Colebrook. He was also a long time committed member and Sexton of the Colebrook Center Cemetery. He loved his farm and spent decades raising pigs, cows, turkeys and chickens.
But most of all he loved his family. He was a man of tradition and prepared Sunday Lunch every week for his children, grandchildren, friends including his dog Benny who attended those lunches for 10 years, and just about anyone else who wanted to stop by.
For his immediate family, Paul was their rock, their center, and their grounding. His passing has left an irreplaceable void, but they hold fast their cherished memories and embrace all that he has taught them.
When Paul eventually retired he was told "well now you can enjoy your free time, take vacations and go anywhere you want" and his response was " I have everything I want and need at home". The family takes comfort knowing that his passing happened where he wanted to be home happily doing what he loved, preparing for another Sunday lunch in the presence of the things he loved most.
He is survived by his soul mate and partner in life for over 35 years Dee Pond, and her children April (Sean) Ducott, and son Eric (Sarah Audia) Pond, Paul's children Michele (John) Marchi, Mark Jasmin, Todd Jasmin, 9 grandchildren who lovingly called him DooDa, his former wife and friend Paula Weir, William "Bill" McCarthy dear friend, who loved him like a brother, and his two dogs Peaches and Ebby.
