Jacob Daniel "Jake" Harness, 34, died on August 25, 2023 in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, where he resided. Jake was born in Springfield, IL on December 13, 1988 the son of Joe and Cindy (Knox) Harness.
Jake graduated from Glenwood High School in 2007 where he participated in many athletic activities. He enlisted in the United States Navy and graduated from Naval Nuclear Power Training to become a nuclear electrician. He served aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Harry Truman in this role.
After his naval service, Jake worked as a field technician in the manufacturing automation industry, traveling all over the United States. He loved golfing, poker, fishing, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and holiday family gatherings. Jake especially enjoyed spending time with friends at the Geneva National Golf Club.
He is survived by his parents of Springfield, IL; brother, Luke Harness of Tampa, FL; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Harness of Carrollton, IL; as well as his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jake was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Knox of Carrollton, IL.
Cremation services for Jake have been accorded.
A public visitation for Jake is going to be held on September 8,2023 at the Chatham American Legion Hall Post 759 (206 W Chestnut St, Chatham, IL 62629) from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A brief prayer service will be held at 6:30pm followed by an informal gathering.
In honor of Jake's love of animals, memorial donations can be made to the Animal Protective League (1001 Taintor Rd, Springfield, IL 62702) please denote your donation "in memory Jake Harness."
