Troy Bennett, age 47, of Springfield, Il. died Thursday (May 15, 2025) in Springfield, Il.
He was born June 14, 1977 in Springfield, Il. son of Jerry Marshall and Lynda Marie Colburn Bennett.
Surviving are his parents Jerry Bennett of Waverly, and his stepmother, Cindy Meeks of Springfield, Il. and mother, Lynda Bennett of Springfield, Il., siblings, Teresa Clouse (Mark) of Auburn, Il., and Terry Shaun Austin (Michelle) of Chatham, Il.; a grandmother, Esther Meeks of Fairfield, Il.; and nephews and niece, Zachary Clouse, Carter Austin, and Julia Clark; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eileen and Marvin Colburn; and paternal grandparents, Esther and John Bennett; a grandfather, Earl Meeks; and an aunt, Carol Stollies.
Troy was a graduate of Glenwood High School in Chatham, Il. and later received his bachelor's degree from Illinois State in Bloomington, Il. He worked for the US government as a private contractor in the Middle East for many years. Troy was an avid Illini fan. He also loved to fish, watch documentaries, and working out.
Graveside services will be held noon Thursday (May 22, 2025) at Sulfur Springs near Loami, Il. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11:30 Thursday at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il.
